Mumbai: Legal experts Thursday described the Bombay High Court verdict acquitting Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the hit-and-run case as shocking and said "the faith of common man in the judicial system has been shaken". The family of another injured Abdul Sheikh, whose legs were crushed under the actor's vehicle, also voiced dissatisfaction over Bombay High Court judgement and demanded adequate compensation and allowance from the film star.

Salman Khan, clad in a dark, checked shirt and jeans, heard out the verdict without emotions but was later seen quietly wiping tears from his eyes in the court.
After completing all the formalities of his surety bond, the actor finally left the courtroom around 4 pm with his bodyguard Shera. He further said he had asked the actor not to drink that night as it may prove risky while driving but the actor did not pay heed to his advice. "His conviction and sentence stand quashed", said Justice A R Joshi on Dec.10. One person was killed and four others were injured.
While the sessions court accepted the prosecution charge Salman Khan was indeed driving the auto, it rejected the dramatic confession by actor's family driver Ashok Singh who claimed that it was indeed him at the wheel at the time of the mishap. Khan's lawyers had argued that the lower court had not considered all the evidence at hand during the trial.
On the main aspects as to driving and drunkenness, the prosecution has not brought any material evidence which spells out the offence of the accused, the court said.
Earlier this year, Khan played the eponymous hero of "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", about a man who undertakes a treacherous journey from India to Pakistan to save a little girl.end
