Salman Khan turns 50 today. While that itself is enough to uncork the bubbly, the actor is already riding high on the stupendous successes of his two films, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, their combined revenues totalling Rs 500 crore, making Salman the first ever actor to perform such a feat. 2015 is also the year the enfant terrible of Bollywood recovered his lost innocence, be it as the Hanuman-loving devotee in Bajrangi Bhaijaan or the perky Prince lookalike in Prem Ratan, eclipsing his earlier vendetta-filled characters in Dabangg, Kick and Ek Tha Tiger. He also recovered his freedom with the Bombay High Court acquitting him of all charges in the 2002 hit-and-run case. Each and every Eid release of Salman has found BO success and Bajrangi was no different, becoming the fastest Bollywood film to earn Rs 100 crore at the box office within India.
Diwali too shone bright for the actor with Prem Ratan crossing the Rs 100 crore mark within three days of its release. Director Sooraj Barjatya, who gave Salman aka Prem his first lead role in Maine Pyar Kiya, reunited with the latter after 16 years. Be it age or box office numbers, Bhaijaan struck gold this year.
