Mahesh Bhatt is miffed with the Censor Board

Dec 19, 2015 - 12:12pm

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt is known to speak his mind especially when it comes to political matters and social
issues. The director-producer recently was left miffed by the Censor Board's decision when they revealed the
cuts required for his upcoming romantic thriller Love Games.

The film which was recently under the CBFC radar is a love story and a thriller revolving around a drug addict. According to Mahesh Bhatt, the Censor Board which was happy to watch the film, later revealed that, they
would want to cut short the kisses, mute certain four letter words as well as asked him to avoid using hard
drugs to portray the hero as a drug addict. However, a surprised Mahesh Bhatt reasoned that it wouldn't
 make sens
e to show the actor as a drug addict until the film shows him using those drugs.

Expressing his feelings, Mahesh Bhatt took to social media to talk about his situation. Though he did
not elaborate on the reason behind him venting out his anger, he said, "We live in oppressive times.
We in Bollywood now have, one of our own as a thought police!" He further added, "Instead of calling
the process of limiting our self expression & dissent as "censorship,"he calls it "concern for our SANSKRITI !"
In the end, he wrapped up his series of tweets saying, "This guy feels that we Indians are ready to support
repression as long as it is done by hiding behind the high sounding word 'our tradition.'"

Love Games marks the debut of model turned actor Gaurav Arora and stars Patralekha of Citylightsfame
and Tara Alisha Berry. The film is slated to release on May 1, 2016.
