With Aamir Khan having departed after wrapping up the shoot for his upcoming film, ‘Dangal’, a biopic on Haryanvi wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, Salman Khan is all set to arrive this March to complete the shooting of his film ‘Sultan’ which is also a biopic, on Haryanvi wrestler Sultan Ali Khan.
Joining him will be Randeep Hooda, Anushka Sharma and several other actors from Mumbai.
Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and part of the Yash Raj films banner, the shooting is expected to take place in the Kila Raipur village and Gujjarwal village. These are the same villages where Aamir’s movie has been shot.
Salman’s last shoot in Punjab was in Patiala in June 2011 for ‘Bodyguard’ where he along with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Raj Babbar and others shot at Bhadurgarh Fort for a month.
His last visit in Ludhiana was in May 2013 when he came to inaugurate a clothing showroom in a mall.
When it comes to his warmest connection with Punjab, it is love for his teacher –Manjitinder Singh Bedi whom he always meets whenever he comes to Punjab.
Bedi who currently runs his own school - Indo British School in Nabha near Patiala taught him history at Scindia School, Gwalior, for three years. Salman came to know about his teacher who was settled in Punjab, after 31 years of leaving school. It happened when Salman was shooting for Bodyguard and his friend told him about his teachers whereabouts and Khan within minutes, invited Bedi and his family to the shooting.
Later, when Salman was in Chandigarh in May 2013, he invited Bedi and his family for special dinner at the Taj, Chandigarh, and promised his teacher to meet him whenever he travels to Punjab.
“We are excited Salman will be back to Punjab. It is rare to find students like him these days who never forget their teachers despite reaching great heights in life. It will be a pleasure to meet him again. Youngsters who often forget their teachers should learn a lesson from him,” said Bedi.
Meanwhile, a source from Yash Raj films and the hotel where he will stay during his Ludhiana visit revealed that the shooting will take place for almost a month and a lot of security will be deployed.end
