Rumour has it: Sunny Deol mortgages preview theatre to fund Ghayal sequel

Jan 19 2016 1:01pm

The sequel to Sunny Deol's 90's film Ghayal, was set to see the light of day, however the release of the film was again postponed for reasons best known to the maker. Now we hear that Ghayal Once Again will finally release on February 5, with Reliance Entertainment stepping in to distribute the film in India, while B4U will distribute the film internationally.

However, if rumours are to be believed, we hear that Sunny Deol has gone to great lengths to ensure that the film releases. In fact Sunny has mortgaged his preview theatre Sunny Super Sound to fund the making and subsequent release of the film. On the distribution part, it is being said that though Sunny was in talks with Viacom 18 to distribute the film, the deal fell through after the corporate production house made it clear that they would only release the film and not present it, in essence saying that while Sunny and the makers of Ghayal Once Again could use Viacom's distribution network the cost of distribution would be borne by them.

While the film's and Sunny's official spokesperson denied these rumours, they claim that the delay in releasing the film was since Reliance Entertainment and Sunny's team required an extensive period to efficiently promote and distribute Ghayal Once Again. As of now, Reliance Entertainment has come on board and along with Sunny Deol will now be releasing Ghayal Once Again on February 5, 2016.end

Sunny Deol panics, move release Ghayal Returns date

Jan 9 2016 10:49am

Poor Sunny Deol! His Ghayal Once Again seems to be living up to its title. The project, meant to revive Sunny's glorious innings in the past when Ghayal ripped open the box offfice, is being shuttled from pillar to post. The latest development is that it has been shifted from January 15 to February 5 so that Sunny would have more time to promote the film.

Not only is a star of his stature, with a following in North India that could put politicians to shame, reduced to selling his new film from channel to channel on television, he also had to go through the experience of waiting for hours for Salman to show up to shoot for 'Bigg Boss'. Sunny finally left in a huff. But he had to return to fulfil his marketing obligations towards his new release Ghayal Once Again. Then on Kapil Sharma's show one could see Sunny's discomfort with all the loud jokes and digs.

Says a source very close to Sunny, "Sunny is a very shy guy. He hates giving interviews and the thought of promoting a film gives him the creeps. But he has no choice right now but to go out there and promote Ghayal Once Again. There are no other known faces in the cast. He is the only star. So Sunny must be all there, promoting the film."

The film's leading lady Soha Ali Khan apparently came into the picture after Sunny approached all his leading ladies from the past. "None of them wanted to work with him," says the source sadly.

In recent times Sunny Deol has faced severe problems getting leading ladies to work with him. In his last film as a leading man Singh Saab The Great, Sunny's co-star was the relatively unknown Urvashi Rautela. I Love NY which was released subsequently was languishing in the cans for 4 years and was disowned by its leading lady Kangna Ranaut. Sunny's other unreleased film Mohalla Assi which has been shelved stars television actress Sakshi Tanwar opposite him. Ghayal Once Again features Soha Ali Khan opposite Sunny. Hardly the stuff evergreen pairs are made of.

"Let the film be a hit and all the heroines who have abandoned Sunny will be back," says Sunny's kin.

We wish him a speedy box-office recovery.end
